Where can we get coffee and breakfast sandwiches?

Try Savory on Route 6 for egg sandwiches, Days on Shore Road for coffee and bakery items, or Far Land on Bradford Street if you are heading into Provincetown. The breakfast guide has addresses, menus and more choices.

Where are the farmstand, fish market and liquor stores?

Hillside on Route 6 is a seasonal produce stop. Mac’s has seafood markets in Wellfleet and Provincetown; Salty Market and Pamet Valley Package are Truro options for drinks. Find the addresses and shopping details.

Where can we buy food?

Stop & Shop at 56 Shank Painter Road, Provincetown is the full-supermarket option north of Truro. For a few essentials, choose a closer local market. The arrival food plan helps with that first shop and a late-arrival meal.

Where should we eat tonight?

Start with Montano’s for Italian food, Blackfish in Truro Center for a planned dinner, or a deli meal if you want to stay in. Our restaurant and takeout guide links to menus, ordering and reservations.

What should we unpack first?

Get bedding, personal essentials, and the first meal settled. Our arrival checklist covers the host details to save and supplies to confirm.

Beach days

Do we need a parking sticker?

The answer depends on the beach and the parking system. Check town stickers versus National Seashore parking , then the individual beach guide. A rental address alone does not answer every access question.

How do we choose a beach?

Look at bay versus ocean, the approach from the car, facilities, and current access notices, not only the photograph. The beach guides identify stairs and paths that may matter when carrying gear or visiting with children.

Could we visit a freshwater pond?

The pond guide covers Truro access leads, nearby Wellfleet landings and current water-quality links. Check parking and the route before bringing swimming or paddling gear.

What are the tides?

Use the NOAA tide-prediction links for the place and date you need. A tide time is not a surf forecast or a guarantee of safe swimming conditions.

Can the dog come?

Check the beach rules and seasonal closures separately from your cottage’s pet permission. Start with the dog guide and its official links .

What can we do away from the beach?

Browse things to do around Truro, from Highland Light and art workshops to village outings. Confirm opening times and any booking requirement before traveling.

What can we do with kids when it rains?

Provincetown Library has a huge boat model and a children’s area. Truro Library is closer for a reading stop; Wellfleet Cinemas offers indoor films. Compare these rainy-day options, PAAM and scheduled events with admission and booking details.

What works with children?

Try the Puma Park guide for a playground break or the family-week guide for shorter outings and rainy-day planning. Choose around your children’s ages and energy.

Wellfleet or Provincetown?

Follow an afternoon in Wellfleet for village shops and the harbor, or an evening in Provincetown for galleries, Commercial Street, and dinner. Keep weather and return transport in mind.

Can we leave the car?

The North Truro–Provincetown shuttle is an option along the Shore Road and Beach Point corridor. Check the stops and last return for your dates before heading out. It does not serve every Truro rental.

Permits & outings

Can we have a beach fire tonight?

Read the fire-permit instructions: Truro’s town beaches and NPS beaches use different booking windows.

What is a Race Point sticker?

Beach admission and oversand driving are different . Check vehicle eligibility and closures before buying an ORV permit.

Can visitors go clamming?

Visitor shellfish permits are available , but open beds and days need checking. The free senior category is for qualifying Truro residents, not all older visitors.

Where can we buy ice?

Lower Cape Ice lists Days Market, Salty Market and Pamet Valley Package among its Truro outlets. Check the supplier’s store list and the shop’s availability before making a special trip.

No washer at the cottage?

Chatham Laundromat lists Truro and North Truro in its pickup service area . Confirm your exact address, minimum order, pickup day and return date before relying on it; the public schedule does not specify a Truro day.

Need an indoor stop or Wi-Fi?

Truro Public Library, 7 Standish Way , publishes opening hours and holiday closures. The town lists library Wi-Fi during opening hours; check programs before bringing children for a particular activity.

Need medical care?

For an emergency, call 911. For non-emergency needs, Outer Cape Health Services describes limited walk-in availability in Provincetown ; check current clinic information before traveling. This is not a 24-hour emergency department or a promise of immediate care.

Where is a pharmacy in Provincetown?

CVS is at 132 Bradford Street , 508-487-0019. Check the pharmacy hours, not just the shop hours: the pharmacy has a separate schedule and a published 1:30–2 p.m. lunch closure. Call about a prescription before making the trip.

Wi-Fi, laundry, bins, or missing supplies?

Check the host’s house guide and contact the host through your agreed booking channel for bin locations, laundry access and missing supplies.

Something is broken or not as expected?

Tell the host promptly, identify the problem, and include a photo where useful. Keep the message in your booking record and ask the host how soon the issue can be resolved.

Can we take rubbish to the dump or visit the swap shop?

Ask your host about the cottage’s rubbish arrangements first. Truro’s transfer station at 115 Route 6 requires an entry permit. Renting a cottage does not by itself establish that your vehicle has one. For entry questions, call 508-349-6339 before driving there.

The swap shop is inside the transfer station and runs on volunteer hours. Check its separate schedule on the town page; do not treat it as an unrestricted drop-in shop. These access details were checked September 23, 2026.
